Acai drink is one of the new “super foods” being touted by doctors and nutritionists around the globe. The deep purple grape-size berries, fruits of the acai plant, are grown in Central and South America. The berries have a pleasant, unique taste, somewhat like chocolate-covered raspberries. The pulp and skins of the acai berries are eaten, and both contain powerful anthocyanins, water-soluble pigments that are red, blue, or purple and give the berries their color. Anthocyanins in the plants
